Blockages & Leaks

A blocked drain or a leaking pipe can cause major damage but they can often be easily fixed

If undetected or left untreated, a blocked drain or a blocked pipe can soon cause water leaks and damage to pipes. If you are unsure whether you have a blockage, there are a number of clear signs that would suggest you do.

The most common tell tale signs that you have a blockage or leak within your drainage system are:

  • Slow drainage
  • An unpleasant odour coming from the drain
  • Raised water levels
  • A gurgling sound

If you have any of these issues, then it would suggest you have a blockage of some kind. If you are unable to clear the blockage and the issues persist then you will need to call a plumber.

Water leaks from pipes can be caused by a number of things. Some of which are easier to treat or fix than others. The most common causes of a leaking pipe are:

  • Cracked pipes
  • Blocked drains
  • Damaged seals
  • Old/worn pipes
  • Ground movement

It’s not just pipes that can suffer from blockages and leaks though but also toilets and showers. Again, if left untreated, these can cause unnecessary water loss, damage and an increase in your water bill. Even the smallest of drips or leaks can have a surprising effect on your water consumption.
